The plot is light but sufficiently developed. The POV alternates between Terry and Maggie. This book is an easy read - short and sweet and sexy. It is easy to root for their HEA, but part two ends in a cliffhanger! Terry's crass comments and Maggie's stubborn independence create an enticing tension, while Terry's friends are heartily entertained by his bumbling, accusing him of being whipped. Maggie is a very sympathetic character, and Terry deserves a second chance at love after so many years alone. This is the story of Terry and Maggie's struggle to define their relationship. Terry and Maggie's story brings together two very real characters, lonely in their own ways, who both need rescuing. Terry's attempts to please Maggie ironically result in her pushing him away. Terry desperately wants Maggie, whose pride is continually challenged by Terry's need to fix her problems and control everything. Terry and Maggie's budding relationship experiences growing pains as they attempt to define what they are to one another. Additionally, the challenges imposed by Maggie's three young children require careful coordination. Maggie's inexperience as a sub necessitates serious discussions that often lead to misunderstandings. Terry is determined to keep Maggie, but his words continually get him into trouble. The second part opens on the morning of day four, right where part one leaves off. It becomes unclear whether they will write off their tryst as a fling, much to Terry's chagrin, or if it will become something more. Almost as soon as Terry succeeds in seducing her, Maggie suddenly needs to leave him. ![]() He is relentless in his pursuit, encouraged by the knowledge that she is attracted to him, too. Her innocence and curves draw him to her, despite the fact that she isn't at all his type. She runs into Terry, a member, who rescues her from being attacked that night. When unsuspecting Maggie is lured to La Petite Mort Club by her ex-sister-in-law, she is completely out of her element. The mother of three youngsters and in her mid thirties, she has no friends to lean on for support and finds her life crumbling as she struggles to pay the bills. Maggie has been divorced just over one year. He is tiring of the club routine and is in need of a new sub. He has become lonely, and coming home each night to his dog doesn't fill the void. As a successful divorce attorney, he is a great catch but vows not to marry a second time.
